GLOBAL YOUNG GREENS CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF YOUTH

The Global Young Greens (GYG) are part of the international youth. As a network we are one part of a big movement to bring together young activists and professionals alike. Our focus is on green issues like ecological sustainability, social justice, equality and democracy. While we aim at young greens in particular, we are aware of our huge responsibility for the global youth and the planet. The Earth will only survive and living can only improve, if the realist mode of geo-politics yields to a sense of understanding and solidarity. We practice what we teach: using Open Space techniques, quotas for gender and regions in our debates and committees, giving respect to each other and being ready-to-receive for each other’s feedback. The GYG is one tool for people to get connected to like-minded peace-oriented youth around the globe. It is based on the pillars of friendship, creativity and exchange of ideas.

At the start of our General Assembly during the Berlin Congress (Aug. 8-14, 2010), we wanted to give a visible voice to the demands of global youth. A greener world is a world where young people can live happily and in peace. A world in understanding and solidarity with each other and the planet is a greener one. Go Green, global youth!
